The service is available to any subscribing organisation and includes licensing for use on public facing websites.

Why use the service?

The viaEuropa Express service provides unlimited access to OS OpenData for the whole of Great Britain, with the option to rapidly access OS MasterMap and OS VectorMap Local mapping, ready for deployment on web, mobile and desktop platforms. By subscribing to the service, organisations can dramatically reduce the lead time to access authoritative Ordnance Survey large-scale mapping, enabling them to get on with the job in hand.

Who should use the service?

The service is ideal for any organisation having to quickly analyse and respond to disaster situations such as flooding, terrorist acts and disease epidemics. This will include insurance and reinsurance companies, and many more besides. Traditionally, the only way to respond to such events would be to hold a large-scale topographic map dataset for the entire country. This is expensive to license and presents significant challenges in handling the huge data volumes required.

With viaEuropa Express, insurers can acquire maps for a specific area of interest and receive the data, delivered as a service, by the next business day. The area of interest is selected, costed and ordered through a web-based interface. As a result, they are able to respond rapidly to an event whenever and wherever it arises.
